Caroline to star in David Williamson world premiere

Written for Caroline, David Williamson's new play, Scarlett O'Hara at the Crimson Parrot, will premiere as part of the Melbourne Theatre Company's (MTC) 2008 season. Having retired from main-stage productions in 2005, the Australian playwright's world premiere will star Caroline as Scarlett, a woman who copes with her mundane reality by escaping into a fantasy world of her favourite films. MTC's Artistic Director Simon Phillips said, "Finding a show for Caroline O'Connor is no picnic, since her inexhaustible talents require a vehicle with the power of a Ferrari, the manoeuvrability of a trail bike, the relentlessness of a monster truck and the magnificence of Cleopatra's barge. But I thought if anyone could give her endless talents a work-out, David Williamson could!".

Scarlett O'Hara at the Crimson Parrot will premiere at the Arts Centre Playhouse in Melbourne, for a five week season from June 7 until July 12, 2008. For ticketing information, visit Melbourne Theatre Company.
